Paul Evans, Liverpool John Moores University (United Kingdom)

Business Excellence in the Context of Higher Education

Biography: Paul Evans is Director of Business Excellence at Liverpool John Moores University, UK Excellence Award winners in 2008 and EFQM Excellence Award Finalists in 2009, 2010 and 2011. He has more than 20 years experience of quality and change management in industry and the university sector, and has worked extensively with the EFQM on various projects, including process benchmarking, model review, and assessment process review. He is currently a member of the EFQM 2010 Model Review Core Team, representing the Public/Not-for-Profit sector. He has also acted as a senior assessor/assessor team leader for the EFQM Excellence Award for several years, leading assessment assignments throughout Europe, including several finalists, prize and award winners. In 2009, Paul was invited to become a founding member of the EFQM Valued Professionals Network and qualified as an EFQM Master Assessor in 2010.

A telecommunications engineer by first discipline, he holds a Bachelors Degree with Honours in Business Studies from the Liverpool Polytechnic (now LJMU) and a Master of Science Degree (with distinction) from the University of Leicester, UK. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development; a Fellow of the Chartered Quality Institute; and a Chartered Quality Professional.

In addition to his University role, Paul is Chairman of North of England Excellence Ltd, a not-for-profit company with links to the BQF and EFQM. He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on business excellence related subjects.

He lives in rural North Wales, with partner Christine and their two German wirehaired pointer dogs.
