Professor of Quality and Organizational Excellence
Graduated in Industrial Engineering (2002, 5-year degree), University of Minho, Portugal; received a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Minho, in 2008.
Paulo is Associate Professor in the Department of Production and Systems at the University of Minho; Researcher of the ALGORITMI Research Centre, University of Minho; Visiting Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA; Vice-Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Minho.

During 2015, Paulo had been at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for a sabbatical leave.
Paulo participates as a speaker in many Quality international conferences and he is currently author of several publications in the Quality field (books, papers in international and national journals). Paulo coordinates several research projects on Quality and also supervises several researchers (Postdoctoral, PhD Students, Master Students and Visiting Researchers).
In 2006 (1st), 2008 and 2009 (3rd), Paulo has been distinguished with the award of the Best Paper Presented in the Student Technical Paper Competition during the ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement. In 2008, his PhD Thesis was distinguished by the Portuguese Association for Quality as the best thesis developed in Quality. In 2009, Paulo has been distinguished as Senior Member of the American Society for Quality. In 2011 (2nd), Paulo has been distinguished with the award of the best presentation in the European Organization or Quality Congress. In 2011 and 2016, Paulo has been nominated one of the Quality Progress “New Voices of Quality” (ASQ) and in 2012 he was awarded with the Feigenbaum Medal (ASQ). Since 2014, Paulo is Associate Academician of the International Academy for Quality. In 2015 he was included in the Group of Best Reviewers of the Total Quality Management and Business Excellence Journal (2010-2014).
