Measuring the Success of Talent Centered Future City – Ülemiste City radar
Kadi Pärnits is Chairman of the Board of Ülemiste City developer AS Mainor. She received her PhD degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Tartu. Since then, she has developed interest in cooperation between enterprises, universities and if needed, also public sector institutions. She has been Member of Parliament, Tallinn City Council, worked in Estonian Trade Union Confederation and is Professor and Member of the Council of Estonian University of Applied Sciences (EUAS) for more than 15 years. For the past ten years her passion has been the development of Ülemiste City.
Kadi is going to talk about the development of Ülemiste Smart City, which is based on the knowledge that international know-how and comprehensive cooperation in envisioning the future is essential. Only comprehensive collection and sharing of knowledge and testing bold new developments enables to develop talent friendly and future oriented city space and influences more and more not only the competitiveness of Ülemiste, but Estonia as a whole. Good examples of the initiatives started by Kadi are the creation of International House for smoother ingestion of international talents, as well as initiation of Future City Professeurship at TalTech for implementing research results for the improvement of planning, mobility, and smart economy. A big challenge in front of the development of the City is following its strategic goals and gathering, analysing, and visualization of data, which describe all aspects of the city space. Kadi has led the development of Ülemiste City data radar since 2016 with the aim to make meaningful decisions regarding the development of appropriate services and comprehensive community engagement.
