ABOUT THE PRESENTATION
Exploiting benchmarking for continuous improvement of knowledge intensive organisation
The intellectual capital forms the basis for functioning of every organisation. The intellectual capital is divided in three categories; human capital, structural capital and customer capital. In knowledge intensive organizations knowledge is mostly held by in individuals as human capital. In the Finnish Air Force we exploit this human capital by applying benchmarking within other organisations globally to improve performance continuously.

Doctor of Science (Tech.), 2006, University of Vaasa Finland, Doctoral thesis: “The implementation of quality thinking in the Finnish Air Force”
Further education in International Business Management and, especially, in Quality Management.                           
Qualified Lead Auditor in Finnish Defence Forces.
Finnish National Quality Award Surveyor 1998 and Lead Surveyor 1999-2001.

Scientific work
Conferens papers presented in India, Israel, Hungary and Finland.
Acting as an opponent in several doctoral theses in Universities of Vaasa, Tampere and Oulu in Finland.

Employment 
Expert in aircraft fatigue problems and materials, Air Force, 1977 - 1986.
Quality  and R&D  Manager in Vammas Defencetec  company, 1986 - 1996. Responsible for quality systems and R&D in areas of infantry weapons, anti-aircraft and aircraft ammunitions, modernization of anti- aircraft cannons, metallic parts and components of car industry.
Quality Manager of FAF, 1996- 2006,
Development Director, 2007-
Quality consultancy services for Aviation companies.
